What is the waiting period (Iddah)?
İddet, “belirli bir süre, sayılı günler” anlamına gelmekte olup; iddet süresi, iddet müddeti veya bekleme süresi mevcut evlilik birliğinin sona ermesinden itibaren kadının yeni bir evlilik yapabilmesi için geçmesi gereken yasal süreyi ifade etmektedir. Bu düzenleme ile evlilik sonrasında fakat iddet müddeti süresinde doğan çocuğun evlilik birliği içerisinde doğmuş kabul edilmektedir.
Turkish Civil Code Article 132-

Abolition of the Waiting Period
The waiting period ends automatically after three hundred (300) days have passed, starting from the termination of the marriage. In addition, this period ends automatically if the woman gives birth before the completion of the waiting period, within the scope of Article 132/2 of the Turkish Civil Code.
Case for the Abolition of the Waiting Period
Another method is to waive the waiting period (iddet) if it is determined that the woman is not pregnant from her previous marriage, or if the former spouses decide to remarry.
Is a marriage valid during the waiting period (iddet)?
